Shop-Vac 9625310 6.5-Peak Horsepower Right Stuff Wet/Dry Vacuum, 18-Gallon Review

I have a 35 year old Sears 22 gallon wet or dry shop vac that has been great but the motor is finally wearing out. So I bought this Shop Vac brand to replace it. I got the 18 gallon thinking it would be a little easier to store but still provide plenty of capacity. I was wrong, the tool caddy that attaches to the barrel is quite large and cumbersome. It is not apparent how the tools should be stored in it and no manual or documentation of any kind came with this vacuum explaining how to properly arrange them. I guess they just expect you to figure it out.

The caddy will also be in the way when emptying the drum and all of the tools will of course have to come out. The caddy can not be removed because it holds two of the wheels so it is permanent and it really is a poor design that does not show in the on line ad. The vacuum has good power and picks up well but it also has a smaller hose diameter (1.5 in vs 2.5 in) than my old Sears vac making it incapable of swallowing larger debris.

So besides the tool caddy being a nuisance my other gripes are, no warranty came with this vacuum, no manual came with it so I have no idea what filter to use in it and there are no instructions on how to to replace it. It did not come with a brush attachment so I will have to buy seperately and did I mention that the diameter is much greater than my 22 gallon Sears Vac making it difficult to store.

Overall I am not impressed with this tool and gave it three stars only because it has strong suction. Other than that I would look elsewhere or at a different Shop Vac model. I am sorry I bought this.
