I bought this out of sheer frustration, having cleaned up many a mess from prior overturned garbage bins due to my nocturnally mischevious kitty katts. My husband balked at the price, but now he has changed his tune, and we are both very, very happy. The can is very easy to clean, and its outer surface is in fact slightly textured (translate: hides smudges and stains :)

Side note - tall kitchen bags are too small for this bin... I bought the large (clear, recycling-type) large garbage bags, which work nicely.
