I recently purchased two types of litmus paper, this one because it was so cheap and another one (0-14 pH indicator strips 100/box) which I thought would be of better quality.
It turned out to be the opposite!

I use the paper for cooking, like checking the acidity of my coffee or the alkalinity of my tea. Tomatoes, pickles, you name it. The cheap paper from China gives me reasonably useful information. I can tell the difference between pH 7 and pH 8, for example. The expensive paper with four different colors of litmus ought to be better, but for the food I've tested, everything comes out pH 7. It has no sensitivity. Maybe it would be OK for nitric acid (or aqua regia), but for ordinary kitchen chemistry it is a waste of money.

The Chinese paper comes in one color: Yellow. Put it in an herbal tea, and it comes out dark green (pH 8). Put it in pickle juice and it comes out orange (ph 4). This is more fun for kids than a multi-color pH paper that almost doesn't change at all and is much harder to read.

It comes in two airtight packages, so I assume it doesn't keep long in ordinary conditions. But certainly it is in good shape when I open it. Highly recommended chemistry toy.
