As soon as you open the large box the Ceratronic faucet comes in, you'll realize that you are not dealing with a normal faucet. Installation will take at least two hours, even for an experienced plumbing expert. In the box is the faucet with pre-installed cabling and hose, an AC adapter, a connection box and a variety of parts.

Before you even start installing, you'll run into a couple of issues:

1) Deckplates are NOT included, so if you are replacing a faucet with multiple holes, you'll need to order this part. Expect to pay around $16 for the American Standard part. Quite frustrating that this was not included, given the price.

2) The hoses are 3/8" MALE -- you'll have a tough time finding the right faucet hose with a male-female hookup, as all the ones at your hardware store will be female-female.

3) You need AC power for this facuet. In my case, I drilled a plastic pipe through the wall into an outlet behind a table. Since most homes will lack an outlet under the sink, you'll need to plan your own method of getting AC power. The adapter is quite small, and feeds low voltage DC to the control box. Sadly, the DC plug is tied into a rubber grommet, so expect to spend ten minutes undoing it, unplugging it from the control box and rewiring is you plan to feed it through any holes.

Installation once you have the parts is pretty simple -- remove the old faucet, feed the faucet hose and cables down under your sink, and hook everything up. Frustratingly, the faucet hooks up to the connection box with ten wires -- but most of them are duplicated for some reason. The power board has two identical wires, and the solonoid valve also has two idential wires. Ideally, they would have made this all connect with a single connection, because if you are installing under a sink, the short wires and faucet hose mean you'll be messing around with plugs for quite a while.

BUT -- once installed, this really is an amazing faucet. The sensor is very well designed, and unlike some other faucets, you won't have to wiggle your hand to make water start flowing. Temperature control using the Ceratronic sensors is brilliant.

All in all, a pricey, but well designed product with a couple of minor issues. If the price scares you, then this is clearly not a product designed for your lifestyle.
