I got the 1040 filter for my Rigid 2 in 1 wet dry vacuum, at the NJ home show. The salesman at the booth told me in testing that with this filter they could suck up 5 pounds of flour without noticeable loss of suction. My first thought was who sucks up Flour with a shop vac? After walking around a bit, I went back and bought it, I figured why not for less than the price of 3 filters what could it hurt. It installed quickly and I tried it on the dust I had created from a sanding a woodworking project. My vacuum has never worked this well, it was easily able to clean up all the sanding dust and even pick up other dirt and debris in the garage shop I have. I didn't have to go outside and beat the paper filter against the ground or try to blow it out with my compressor. Over the next several days I installed crown molding in several rooms of my home and used my vacuum to collect the saw dust from my miter saw. It worked great at the end of the project I still hadn't had to open my vacuum and clean up was really limited to just putting my tools away, my vacuum sucked up all the dust from the saw's dust port. Just out of curiosity I opened up my vacuum to see how the filter was doing to my surprise the vacuum really needed to be emptied I didn't relies how much I had sucked up and it was still going strong. I would recommend this to anyone with a wet/dry or shop vac. Also I had been looking at a dedicated Dust collector but I think that I will skip that for now.
