Dimensions of connectors:
Female end: Inner diameter is 1 15/64" (should be 1 1/4") which tapers about 1/16" narrower (~1 11/64) over 2 1/4"
Male end: 1 7/32" outer diameter which tapers up to 1 1/4" over 2"

Dimensions of the hose which I thought was standard:
1 1/8" outer diameter that tapers up to 1 1/4" over 1 1/4"

Edit: but that said, it did seem like a very high quality wand. I bought another one that you can extend by pushing the handle in one direction with your thumb, but this one allows you to hold the entire grip and push it up or down to extend or retract the wand. It is a much more natural movement to grab the handle with one end and the tip with the other and either extend or compress it than to hold my current wand in a certain spot and press in with your thumb, and in the same direction weather compressing or extending. One comes naturally, the other is awkward and you need to be shown or read the instructions. I applaud Shopvac's design.
