I've been looking for an electronic toilet paper dispenser for some time now. My son has the use of only one hand due to a stroke, and dealing with toilet paper rolls is an ordeal for him. Even though the description of this dispenser isn't very good, I took a chance it would work out. It uses 4 D batteries (not included). It has an internal toggle switch for choosing length. On the long switch position, it dispenses about 23-inches of paper--the short position dispenses about 19 inches. It has two sensors on the bottom, so it detects your hand very well and dumps out the length of paper in about a second. The toilet paper (not included) is not perforated, but there are teeth on the case, so you pull the dispensed paper sideways and rip it off. YOu have to pull against the teeth sideways--if you pull the paper straight down, more paper just manually pulls out. So far, ripping the paper off causes no malfunction for the next dispense of paper, so that is nice. There is a rotary knob on the front that you can push in and rotate to manually feed paper if the battery is exhausted. If you use this knob when there is battery power, the battery takes over with just a little rotation.

The paper is a 9-inch diameter coreless and non-perforated roll (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CS0D3C/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Kimberly Clark 07007). Unfortunately, you have to buy a LOT of paper. I could find no source of just one or two rolls.

It mounts to the wall easily, but it would be very hard to mount to the wall with only one hand. You attach a bar to the wall and then slide the dispenser onto the bar and it holds it in place. If you push the dispenser up, it could pop off the wall, so I used a 3rd screw in one of the holes at the bottom of the unit to keep that from happening. Loading a new core seems to take 2 hands too -- although it may be possible. Although the release of the front case (for loading a new roll or changing batteries) is on the back of the unit, it comes with a little metal tab that you can insert into two slots at the top of the unit to release the front case and it rotates down. I don't recommend trying to load the first roll until you have the unit mounted (you'll see why!). There is a spot to put a partial roll of paper if for some reason you have some left on the old core when you put in a new one. However, this is just a plain holder like for a normal toilet paper holder and would be hard to use with one hand since the paper is not perforated-- but there is a row of teeth there for tearing the paper.

It seems well made, has plenty of power, and doesn't seem to jam. So I give it 5 stars for now until I see the battery life.
